“Act Worthy of Yourselves”: Honoring America’s Overlooked Voices

At a recent America 250 kickoff event in St. George, Utah, attendees gathered for more than just a look back at history—they were invited to respond to it's invitation.

Hosted by the Washington County Republican Women, the event featured an author presentation centered on a powerful theme: rediscovering an overlooked figure from the nation’s founding era and reflecting on the responsibility of preserving his legacy.

The presentation, titled “Act Worthy of Yourselves,” encouraged attendees to think beyond the familiar names of the American Revolution and to recognize that the story of America’s founding is broader—and deeper—than commonly told.

Rather than serving as a traditional history lesson, the event emphasized engagement and reflection. It connected the spirit of the Revolutionary era to the present day, urging those in attendance to consider how the principles of courage, responsibility, and civic duty still apply in modern America.

With the nation’s 250th anniversary approaching, events like this one are helping spark renewed interest in the founding generation—not just as historical figures, but as individuals whose ideas and sacrifices continue to shape the country.

The message of the evening was clear: remembering history is not enough. The real challenge is living up to it.
