Dear Mr. McKenna,

Thank you for sharing your book with us. It truly opened my eyes to what being a patriot really means. I really enjoyed hearing about Steve O'Dell [the main character] and his adventures. Although Steve was the one going on the adventures, I felt like I was going on them with him. I was the one learning to be more patriotic. These adventures weren't for Steve, they were for me. No ordinary author can make me feel the way I felt reading your book. It takes an extraordinary author. Thank you for what you do. You are bringing the remembrance of a not well known patriot back. You are bringing back the memory of Dr. Warren.

                                                                                                     Thank you!

THE HISTORY TEACHER

My students have never engaged more with history than when we read Saving Dr. Warren..."A True Patriot." Steve's adventures captivated them and helped them to remember the heroes of the Revolution more than any class lesson could have done. A must-read for any U.S. History teacher.

THE ENGLISH TEACHER

I used this book in my Eighth-Grade English class. As a lover of historical fiction, I was drawn to the material, but what I wasn't sure about is whether my passion for the content would translate to students. Having just finished the unit and read their essays, I can say--they found it to be informative and entertaining.

The story follows eighth-grader Steve O'Dell as he travels back in time to pre-Revolutionary War Boston where he apprentices for Dr. Joseph Warren, one of American's forgotten founding fathers. It's your classic Hero's Journey tale: call to adventure, assistance, trials, climactic battle, the treasure, the return. Rightfully so, the experience changes him. How? You'll need to read the book for that!

Tragic and funny, exciting and inspirational--come join Steve on his adventure in this must-read book. It won't disappoint.

Teachers, the author has provided a substantial amount of teaching resources for this novel, so if that's important to you, know that everything you could want is there, free of charge!

THE WAR VETERAN

An exciting masterpiece, telling the story of what was really required, on an individual and collective effort by the men and women, who more than selves their country loved. Who showed us the sacrifice it takes to build and preserve a great nation. Exciting and informative for all ages."
